This week marks the world's largest climate conference! Everyone at COP29 in Azerbaijan is talking about carbon reduction because it's the target most at risk of being missed. But sustainability isn't just about carbon. Our world is far more complex, and everything is interconnected.
The image of Carbon Tunnel Vision by Jan Konietzko invites us to see the bigger picture: there are many other dangers threatening human well-being and nature, which Climate Change will only intensify. Here are some examples of issues that need to be developed in parallel:
#Education: Improve teaching and learning to help people better understand and adapt to climate conditions.
#Poverty: The poor are most vulnerable to global warming, which could lead to hardship for many generations.
#Overconsumption: Excessive consumption (often unknowingly) depletes resources and generates massive carbon emissions. #WaterCrisis: Overuse of water, especially in agriculture and by AI, is threatening the world's freshwater supply essential for life.
